Story Behind The Song

Ever wonderd how a song got its name? Well this song was first name was "Crusifiction to the World by the Cross of Christ" by Isacc Watts. It was one of the best in Watts time. It was even said the lines cerainly must have pointed the eighteeth century Christian to a view of the dying of the Savior in a vivid and memorabal way that led them to a deeper worship experiance, even as it does for us today. The name of the song was later changed to:

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, m6y richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, save in the deth of Christ, my God; all the vian things that charm me most-I sacrifice them to His blood.

See, from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mignled down; did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole relm of nature mine, that were apresent far to small; love so amazing, so devine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

This is the song that inspired the song:

The Wonderful Cross
by Jesse Reeves, Chris Tomlin & J.D. Walt

When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Prince of Glory, My rechest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.

Chorus:
Oh, the wonderful cross, bids me come and die, and find that I may truly live.

See from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down, did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Chorus:
Oh, the wonderful cross, Oh, the wonderful cross, bids me come and die, and find that I may truly live, Oh, the wonderful cross, Oh, the wonderful cross, all who gathet here, by grace draw near and bless Your name.

Love so amazing, so devine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

P.S. If there is a song you would like to know the story behind the song (has to be a christian song) let me know.

I love that song.

I know parts of the story behind "Amazing Grace", but I don't know the details. What I know about it is pretty interesting. I'd like to learn more about that one if you know it.
