New Blog Assignment

Well, things seemed to have died on here. I guess there's not much to say at the time, and with so many members being without access to the Internet during the summer, we've kinda been in a bit of a slump. I'm looking forward to things picking up again when school starts - looking forward to seeing new pictures, reading some more of Ben's poetry, reading about all the new stuff we'll be doing, and getting to know some of the new people that will start coming this fall (the ones you guys invite).

But until then, I thought it was about time for a new blog assingment to get things rolling again with those of you who are still out there. Problem is, I can't come up with anything. So, for now, the assingment is another roll call. Just leave a comment on this post to let us know you're there.

If you want, maybe you could leave a suggestion with your comment as to what can be done to put this blog to better use both as a means of communication and as a ministry of our youth group - if you have any ideas.

Thanks. Love you guys. Glad to be back with ya.

Adeus Amigos

Well good folks of the Calvary Baptist Church youth group, I'm on my way to Brazil now. Just thought I'd make a quick post to say thank you for all the prayers and support. I'm gonna miss you guys.

Since this trip doesn't have much to do with our youth group, I'm not gonna post much about it here. But I will try to post some on my Xanga, which you guys can access through my profile. Just click on my name there on the sidebar and click "My Web Page". I should have at least a couple opportunities to get online during the trip, so I'll try to post a little bit whenever I get a chance.

See you all in two weeks!

A song with a story

Here is the story behind one of my favorite songs. Blessed Assurance by Fanny J. Crosby who was blinded at 6 weeks of age but wrote about 8 thousand songs in 95 years.

Blessed Assurance

Blessed assurance Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, Purchase of God, born of His spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, perfect delight! Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission- all is at rest, I in my savior am happy and blest; watching and waiting, looking above, filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Chorus: This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a thought to go with that.

Some people claim to have accepted Christ as Savior, yet they live in the tragic uncertainty of doubting their personal relationship with God. The Scriptures teach, however, that we can know with absolute confidence that we have the life of God within us (1 John 5:13). This confidence is not based on inner feelings or outer signs. Rather, this assurance is founded upon the promises of a faithful God and His inspired Word. It depends not on the amount of our faith but on the object of our faith-Christ Himself. Camp Stories

Should be more pictures coming soon. I'm gonna get some from Gary, and as soon as Aaron accepts his invite, I'm sure he'll post the ones he took. But for now, I thought we could talk about some of the things that happened...

Here's a bit of my stuff. Some of it I just copied and pasted from my Xanga site. Y'all can do the same if y'all want - I just thought they should be shared on here.

It was an interesting experience for me to lead a family group. I wasn't expecting that. I think I could have done a better job at it, but it just wasn't a big priority for me since it didn't involve you guys. I guess that's not the right attitude, but I couldn't help it. I just enjoyed being around you guys. I didn't feel right being a sponsor.

I was anxious to see what God was going to do for us. I knew He was going to do something awesome, and He did. I started seeing more clearly what He is doing in our group - especially through Aaron. It was awesome getting to know him. I think that he is going to be an awesome leader - and a good friend. I think that all of us are better friends now - in more ways than one.

As for the camp itself, the activities at Pineywoods far out does the activities at Siloam. I had an awesome time playing with you guys. The pool was great too - best pool I've ever been in outside a water park. Disappointed that I never had time for the ropes course, but that's okay. Lookin forward to this place that Aaron knows about. I also like the speaker's message. I really liked the focus on missions. I think that's something we all need to think about, and we did. I think we can really go somewhere with that. And the music was good. It's cool that you guys really took notice of that.

Lot's of cool things happened there, guys. Y'all keep praying for each other and don't forget what God did with us. Obviously I haven't mentioned everything on here. Some of it's too personal. But we all know what God started in each other, so there's no need to go into detail about it. All we need to do is make sure we don't forget.

So anyway, let's hear from the rest of you.
