Recently, I had the idea that we really need some kind of "database" of our members' salvation experiences. What I mean is: we want to know who in our youth group is saved (as well as when, where, how, etc.) and we want some kind of quasi-official record of it. I'm asking that all who read this send me a basic account of their salvation. You can do it here as a comment for all to see, or if you feel more comfortable, you can send it to me as an e-mail. In any case, please understand that I'm requesting this more as "business" than for the sake of a discussion, so response is strongly urged.
Of course, if you're like me, your "testimony" is hard to define. I was saved when I was seven or eight during some RA session (most of you probably don't even remember RA's - that was pre-Awana). Really, as someone growing up in church, the decision was more of a "I'd better go ahead and get this taken care of" kind of thing. I believed in God and just accepted the fact that I had to give myself to Him. At some point, I decided to go ahead and do the whole salvation/baptism thing. Obviously, my real testimony is how God continues to draw me closer to Him. I hardly even look back to that RA session. For me, the real moments in which I knew I was saved came later. But in any case, that was my primary salvation. And as dissatisfied as I would be to simply leave my story there, it would be impossible to tell the whole story.
What I'm asking for is something simple. It doesn't have to be the whole story, just let us know more or less where you're at in a few paragraphs (if it takes that much). Remember: the goal is for us leaders to have some kind of record of where you guys are, so please try to get this info to me one way or another. Please don't blow this off as an optional post.

Well, for me, it was just a year(or not even that long) after we moved to Hope from Queen City. It was really hard for me to fit in at the begining because I left all my friends in Texas. My first friend here was Sarah. She came right up to me and said "Hi, my name is Sarah Young, I'm six. How old are you?" We've been friends ever since. Anyways, I was six when I felt that God wanted me to ask him to come into my life. That next morning at church I was supposed to go up to the front with my mom, I got too scared(you know way back when, when I didn't talk)! Well then it was too late to come up and I had to come up that night. I talked to Bro.Scott and he prayed with me and he told me that my dad could baptize me. I thought that was pretty cool that my dad was going to baptize me!
I remember RA's and GA's. I think my age was the last to experience it. I dont think any of the "little ones" will remember it. Ahhh, that was "Back in the Day"!
I am still tryin to put mine into words, but I thought I would say how much I miss RA's...
haha..
RYAN'S STORY TO COME SOON!...yes
Try not to worry so much about putting in the right words. I'm probably just gonna break it down to a "when, where, your comments" sorta record that I can give to Aaron to file away.
I was saved at the age of 5. I was at a friends church & they had a missionary from Turkey. At the end I ask Jesus to be my savior & I felt like someone (Jesus) was cleaning out my heart, but never followed through with being baptized untill I was 17. The reason I waited so long was my parents really didn't encourage me to when I was younger. Then as a teenager my parents ask the paster to come talk with me (us) & I said that the next Sunday I would come down. Well about 1 1/2 -2 years later I went down at a revivel we were having. When I did that I felt like a new person.
I remember GA's, it was good but I think that AWANA is a much better bible program.
