Blog Assignment (PLEASE READ)

Hey folks. Wow. I just can't get over it. You guys are really banging out the communication on here. In fact (and I can't believe I am saying this), we might could afford to slow it down a bit. With so many posts being made in such short amounts of time, some might be getting overlooked. Let's be careful not to fly by what God might be wanting us to really focus on.

Anyway, with all the recent blog activity, I thought now was a good time for a new assignment - something to encourage this activity (or is it to exploit it?) and to make our blog better and more geared towards our purpose.

This time, I'm wanting you to edit your profile. From your dashboard (which is where you're taken after you sign in), you should see to the right of the screen an option that says "Edit Profile". Click on that and there you are.

Now, you can edit it any way you want, but here are some things I had in mind for you to do:

1. Get a photo. Yes, this is a little complicated. But y'all are big kids - y'all can figure it out. Don't forget about Blogger Help, which can be accessed from your dashboard after you sign in. If you just absolutely cannot figure it out, ask me and I'll try to help you.

Now, some of you are currently using avatars for your profile pic, which is fine. However, I just want to suggest that you try putting up a real photo of yourself for a change. It'd be nice to associate your comments with your real face. Again, this is only a suggestion. If you're married to your avatar, then don't worry about it.

2. Give us more info! At the very least, you should put your birthday and stuff like that.

3. Let us e-mail you! Our online communication should not be limited to the blog. Let's create for ourselves a network, so that we can reach each other in multiple ways. Simply select to display your e-mail address. As far as I know, this is completely safe and spam-free.

4. Have your own blog at Xanga, MySpace, or something along those lines? Link us up! Don't want your fellow youth members checking out your personal blogs? C'mon now! The sooner we get away from that kinda attitude, the sooner we'll be better off!

You can do as much or as little of this as you want (though I hope you'll opt to do all that you can). Since I'm pretty sure none of you use Blogger for your own stuff ('cept Ben), I see no reason why the focus of your personal profile should be anything other than our blog and youth group. Try to think of ways that you can better express yourself to us and make communication between all of us easier and more enjoyable.
