Thought I'd lead by example...
If you've never posted or commented before, you might could say something like, "Hey everybody. I've been reading the blog, but this is my first time to post to it. It's actually kinda easy. Maybe I'll start doing it more often."
Just a suggestion. As for you guys and gals who have been contributing from the beginning, you all shouldn't have any trouble coming up with a quick message.

Oh, I just thought that I would mention that Sarah's internet is a bit messed up at the moment. But once she gets back I'm sure she'll post. =)
