Cross Connection

Okay, it's a little late, but here are some of the pictures we got from our trip to El Dorado. For those of you who weren't able to go, I'll try to tell you a little about it.

The first night was a worship service with a band called "Common Ground". We also heard from this really good speaker who talked about serving God.

We spent the night in the family life center of one of the churches involved.

The church's youth leader stayed with us and introduced us to this really cool game that you play in the dark. Despite staying up 'till 2 in the morning playing this awesome new game, we were all very anxious to get started the next day...

So, this is us after the morning worship service. Notice our new member...

After the morning worship service, we broke up and went to a couple conferences which were meant to show us unique ways of ministering to people.

In the afternoon, every church was given a special assignment in the El Dorado area. We were sent to a church camp several miles outside town where we got things ready for summer.

Here's some of the work we did. I thought this was a really cool assignment. There was a lot of work that had to be done before they opened. God always does awesome things at church camps, so it was cool to help with that.

Betcha didn't know Ben could play the piano.

Lot's of other cool stuff that didn't get documented by the camera. I really liked this trip. Not sure what it was exactly, but it was fun.

Those of you who went, tell us what you liked about it or maybe what you learned.

And yes, let's also talk about a time and place to play the dark game.

In case you haven't been here in a while, remember to scroll down and check out some of the other posts. Haven't commented on the roll call? Go ahead and do it!

I guess for me, it was just the trip itself. Honestly, neither of the conferences I went to were that good. I can't see myself using anything I learned there. But the worship services were awesome. The speaker (I wish I could remember his name) was really good and had a lot of good things to say.

But, as always, the best part was just hanging out with you guys. The dark game was fun, and it was also fun just messing around. Ben and Stephen, it was cool talking to y'all all night, even if I didn't get any sleep. These are the things that make our youth group great. Let us not forget it.

Let us also not forget what the speaker said - and what Gary eloborated on later that night - about how, if we truly love the Lord, we will serve Him. You guys think we're really serving Him as a youth group? Maybe this would be an interesting discussion to have on a later post...

Hehe, I like the piccy of Lauren giving the evil eyes at the camera in the second picture. <_< Pure classic Lauren! ^_^
Though not as classic as David carrying toilet paper, oohh that is so going to be made into a poster! JK! =P

I had to help with that toilet paper. I'd never seen so my toilet paper in my life!

Apparenly, this place acted as a shelter for Katrina refugees and they'd recieved a whole bunch of donations of stuff like toilet paper which they didn't use.

*Imagines David and Jason finding a pyramid of stacked up toilet paper*

O_o

Humm... Well I guess it's a good thing that they had so much. I rrreeeaaalllyy hate it when I'm in a public place and you're nearing out of toilet paper... Eck.

Annnyyway, yeah, enough about toilet paper. ;P
How long did you guys work helping set up the camp stuff? :)

It was a good chunk of the afternoon - a couple hours.

By the way, did anybody notice? - the picture of us in the morning worship service, where I asked if y'all noticed our new member? One of the band members is standing behind me.
