Alrighty, as some of you know, I have been chosen to help interview the applicants for our esteemed job as Calvary Youth Minister. Let me first off say I am honored! I don't really know why I was chosen but thats beside the point....
Alright, I'll start off with yesterday's applicant. Brandon Medders. A great guy. Heavy southern accent XD! He was a strong Christian, you could tell just the way he acted. His smile, his way of looking to each person in the room and then way he accepted questions from each of us. He had great things to say about his plans if he were to become youth pastor here at Calvary. He was a very laid back kinda guy, he was kinda like Gary meets Opie Taylor...but a bit heavier...I can't say if he is who God is leading us to or not, only time and prayer will tell....
Today's interviewee was Aaron Craton. Personally, I dont know if I should say this, but I think they would be the way to go. Of course, it isn't up to me, but to God. He and his fiance' Joanna are alot like Gary and Javonna....^_^ ( <~~~ Melody's smily!) They are just bursting with love and you can tell that ministry is what they live for. Not only can it be implied, but it is what they will tell you! They aren't shy in telling you that God has made it clear to them that ministry is what they are on Earth for. I just don't know if I can express how much they really seemed at home here. They were comfortable with everyone in the room, they were laughing at the relaxed times, and answering seriously when needed, so we don't have a stone-face OR a wild-man... I don't know if I will have any lee-way in the final decison process, but if I do I really do think God is telling me this is the guy.
I beleive there are more that will be interviewed however, but i dont know if they can beat Aaron. If you have any questions about any of them feel free to voice them.
I really hope this won't be opening up a can of worms, but, as Jason told me, the Youth have a right to know and I definatly agree......

I had a chance to meet Aaron this morning - no indepth conversations; only a quick handshake. But he seems like a pretty neat guy.
Keep us posted on what happens, Ryan. I'm real excited about all this.
Thanks for passing on the information, Ryan! :D Out of all of the teens in the youth group, I'm glad that you're one of them there at the interview. You know our youth group's interests well. ^_^

Aaron and Joanna... Oh, that just flows, doesn't it?
I saw him (Aaron) this morning. I didn't get the chance to talk to him, but I just get this weird feeling like I've seen him somewhere before. I guess he's just got one of those faces?
They seem pretty cool and genuine.
Out of the two that have been interviewed so far, do they both seem to have good energy? It'd be kinda weird to have a youth leader who doesn't want to get up and go. :p
I hope that things continue to go well. I know that we've all been praying and anxiously awaiting the new youth leader for several months, so this is very exciting!
Though, like it has been said so many times before, if one of these guys is not who God wants to have here, I pray that we'll make the right choice to wait for another and not to be hasty.
It'll be kinda weird with it not being Gary all the time.. But he's still going to be here for us (*Old lady voice* bless 'em, he's so sweet). Once someone has been chosen and things settle down, I know this will really take the weight off of his shoulders. Which he really deserves..
Actually, he deserves a lot more than that..
I hope that we can continue to give back. I know some of us have, but really we all should have been doing that all along. ^_^
I hope you guys caught my last comment on the "Discussion" post. It's something you all should know.
Yeah, I definatly think we should do something. In fact, I was going to mention something about it because Ryan's mom had talked to me about it. His birthday is coming up and she was wanting to do something for him.
By the way, Melody - be sure to bring your camera Wednesday and make sure you've got enough battery power to shoot video. Me and Ryan are cookin' something up for poor Gary.

I've got a little something that I'm working on for Gary, though I'm sure it's not even half as cool as what you guys are working on.
I'm making a card for Gary, though not just any card - a supa' card (Well, assuming I can get it finished in time). :p I know at least Greg and Ryan have seen a few of my "Cartoon Gary" drawings before, I'm not sure if I've shown Jason before... Anyhoo, that'll be the style for the cover. ^_^
I'm also writing a note on the inside wishing him a happy birthday and thanking him for all of the sacrifices he's made...
You know, all that good stuff. :D
If I can sneak it around the youth group enough, maybe we can all sign it, too! :)
I'll be sure and bring my camera as well. Though it can only take 11 second clips at a time (without sound *Sniffle*). So do gimme a signal for when you want me to start recording so I catch the good parts. ^_^
Oh, and are we doing it this Wednesday or next Wednesday??
Hey guys, if any of you are interested in seeing the cover of Gary's card, I can email it to ya. ^_^ It's not entirely done yet, but it's pretty close.
Opinions would be coolies, I'm not sure if the silly cover and the semi-serious-ish thankful note fit together. :p Though that's kind of how this youth group and Gary are, so maybe that's okies...
Anyhoo, just let me know and I'll send it! Emails might be a bit more safe than showing it here. *Shifty eyes* You never know who might be watching. ;P

Since Gary probably won't read this, I guess it'll be okay to tell you guys: Me and Ryan are painting a grapefruit to look like a softball. During the game Wednesday night, we're going to pitch it to him while encouraging him to really smack it outta the park.
11 seconds should be enough to capture it if you start recording as soon as the pitch is made. We'll work out the details of when the pitch will be made when we get there. We wanna give him a chance to get good and warmed-up first so that there'll be a better chance of him hitting it the first time.
Hey, if we're gonna talk about doing something for Gary, maybe somebody should post about it. We've sort of gotten off subject here.

Though true, having a topic for it probably work better.. But Javonna says that they're wanting to get internet soon. Gary's B-day is only about two weeks away..

As far as I know, that's it. There is one other guy who hasn't been interviewed yet, but as far as I know, they're not going to interview him. Not quite sure why.
Anyway, that's all I know. But this is Ryan's deal. Now, let's see if he scrolls down here to lend us some info...
I know that one of the guys could only start work in the fall, so they said they weren't going to interview him.. Though we've only interviewed two, and I had the impression that there were three?
Ah well, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see... :)
