So, let's say I make a post about how much I like fried chicken. It's only up an hour or so before Melody makes a post about chalkboards. Melody's post is very interesting and many people leave comments. However, nobody bothers to scroll down and read my equally important chicken post. Why? Because the most recent post is the most important, right? No! Remember, this is a team blog, meaning that there are several contributors, all of them with something to say (idealy). And it's likely we might all try to say things at once. When this happens, it's possible that some posts get overlooked. Let us make sure this isn't happening. When you get onto the blog, be sure to check out everything that is happening. I have the blog set to display seven days of posts. That means that, assuming at least one post is made a day, the last post on the page is only seven days old. A seven day old post is still a relevant post! Remember, we want to treat posts like threads in a forum rather than as journal entries as you would with Xanga or MySpace.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems that our little online-version youth group is working much like our actual youth group - everyone's trying to talk at once. That's fine here, so long as we don't cancel each other out. So read old posts. Comment on them. Keep them alive for as long as they need to be. I know good and well that more of you have something to say about our canoe trip. But there's only three comments on Melody's post (and one of them is from Melody!) Why? Because after a couple long posts by me, Melody's post, though quite recent is way down there, and nobody bothers to scroll down that far. And even if you did, you'd be one of very few. So if Ben gets a chance to get on and check out what's up, maybe he'll scroll down, find her post, leave a comment. But would Ryan see it? Why should he? He's already left a comment on that post. You see? That's not a discussion, it's just leaving random comments that no one notices. You wouldn't have a verbal discussion like that, would ya? Someone starts the conversation, then everyone just throws in their two cents and walks away. The last person standing is just sorta talking to himself. Kinda the same thing here.
Well, like I said, maybe it's just me. Maybe you guys are keeping up with it all and I'm just ranting about nothing. But like I also said, that canoe trip discussion is not over yet, so why has it been forgotten?

Maybe I should have setup a forum rather than a blog. I guess you could think of this as a forum journal - make sense?
It's kind of easy to think of the newest topic as the most important at times. But none of these topics are really old, the oldest one being in March..
I could set up a forum if you guys would want that.. I can add everyone who has registered to the forum and move all posts from here to a forum. It would take a bit of work but I'm fully willing to set it up for you guys if that's what you're interested in. ;)
Hmm...I guess I've just gotten so used to this. Maybe I'm like the old man who doens't want to leave the house he's lived in his whole life even though some natural disaster is about to wipe everyone out. I like our blog. I actually like the way it works because, while the most recent post isn't the most important, it is nice to be able to follow the chronology of issues in our youth group as a journal - like I said, a "forum journal". I don't know, like I said, I'm the old man who doesn't want to leave his house.
By the way, in case some of you don't know, all posts can be accessed throught the archives.
If any of you have questions about how to use this thing, let us know - unless your question is, "How do you leave comments?" I guess you couldn't ask us that one...
Yeah, I like the blog too. ^_^ It'd be weird to change it to something else..
I just thought that maybe a forum might encourage more posts to past topics, so I figured I'd suggest it..
But ya, the blogy is cool the way it is. ^_^
You're probably right, actually. We might need to move once people start to use this more (I'm still folding to the faith that they will). We'll see.
Wherever our Internet ventures go from here, we cannot forget that the purpose of all this is for us to communicate.
I realize I keep encouraging everyone to get more active on this, but actually, much has happened since we started this thing. It's only been two months, but we've really had some good times on here, and some real interesting thoughts expressed, too.
Yeah, actually when you think of the short amount of time that this blog has been up, we've really had a lot going on in here.
We've had 38 topics in 50 (more or less) days, and who knows how many comments on them all. ^_^ I think that's purdy stinkin' good! :D
I also think that it's serving it's purpose pretty well so far. I mean, I probably wouldn't have opened up this much to you guys if it hadn't been for the blog...
We've had some pretty interesting topics, wacky pictures, cool discussions, etc.
I for one think that it has helped those who are on the blog to know each other just a little bit more. ^_^
(Now... We just need to get everyone else on here... and That includes GARY *Runs all the way to Hope and hug attacks Gary - then runs back and sits at her computer*. I was glad to see someone else register last night, so it looks like we've still got some people coming! =D )
There's about three invites still pending. But we've got a lot of people who don't have e-mail addresses. Now, I'm not sure if this means they don't have access to the Internet, or if they just never setup an address. If it's that latter, we should really encourage them to set something up so that they can get on here.
And, yes, I would say that the best thing about this thing so far has been getting to know you better, Melody.
It must be hard to keep up with which posts have new comments. I guess it's because this thing is sorta my baby, but I tend to remember how many comments have been made on a post, so as I'm scrolling down, it'll catch my eye if I notice that there's more comments on a post than there was the last time I was on. I guess you guys might not notice that. Indicators would be nice. Maybe you should mention that on the Blogger support thing. It's a good idea.
Aww, thankies, Jason. ^_^
I just wish I was this open beyond the blog.. *Tear drop*
I'm sure I can eventually get there.. In time.
Oh, and about those without email addresses, it wouldn't be too hard to help set one up or encourage them to get one. Though, it'd probably be hard to get Lauren to get on here. Unless you get Ron excited about the blog and then have him convince Lauren to get an email addy... Muwhaha!
Naaah, and Gregy... Tis not my fault!!! Ya can't blame little stubby Me-looo-dy for posting too much, I'm just making up for my lack of speaking here! =P
Yar yar yar yar yar yar yar!!!!! XD
*Ahem*
I've talked to Lauren about his like a hundred times. She's being very stubborn.
As for the others, I guess we should just ask them if they have access to the Internet and, if they do, make sure they know how easy it is to setup an e-mail address. The ones that told me they don't have e-mail addresses are David, Tyler, Jacob, and pretty much all the neighborhood kids. I don't know if they have Internet access or not.
Is there anyone we're forgetting? Anyone who might not know about this yet?
Hummm...
I can't really think of who we might be forgetting, though I don't know the entire list of who has been invited.. What about Katy? I know she has an email address.
Oh, oh, and Gary sooo has an email address! <_< Though he doesn't have internet at his house yet.
*Sobs*
GGGGAAARRRYYYYY!!!!!!
You mean Katie Ward? I've invited her. Still pending. So is Ameila and Luke.
Hmm, well I guess that's most of us, then..
Maybe I'll try the puppy eyes on Lauren and see if she come on here. No one can say no to da eyes.
>>>> O_O' <<<<
Whoa... YOGURT COVER FRIED CHEESE BUGERS!!! Look how many posts this thread has gotten in the past three hours! :o This is the busiest thread out of all the others...
*Meldoy's Lame quote moment* One thread to rule them all. =P
Awhh pooh, I just spelled my name wrong in my last post... <_<
I feel so special now. =P
Hey now, I saw you "LOL"ing me, Jay! Can't hide from 'me supper fast refresh button fingers!! =P
Okay, that sounded weeeiirrrddd.. But anyhoo! Yep yep, Bradley is on here. Registered, even.

ME! =D
Nuhhh... What where we talking about, again? *Goes back to read original topic*
I am so forgetful today.. I almost forgot to even get out of bed today. *Yawn* So sleepys..
Yes, and I blame my mind of goo (And lack of spelling power) on lack of sleep! =P
'Tis sad..
I really think that they would enjoy it if they gave it a chance. ^_^
We should drag Steven back in here again, I think he would like it.
Hmmm... Must do some begging this Sunday to get people to come on here. XD
Maybe if we got Gary to announce it they'd pay more attention? Because right now it seems to be kind of an underground soft of thing... Or put a wacky picture above the ad on the bulletin board for the blog so more people will go up and check it out? lol, I dunno.. =)
"Soft of thing"???? I meant 'sort of thing'...
Maaan, I keep spelling stuff wrong today. Waaaahhh O__O
I need a cookie.. :<
lol =P
I'm gonna make up a new flyer about it with quotes this time to show what's going on here.
Yeah, I deleted my comment again. Sorry.
Ohh, yay! A new flyer. ^_^
Can we add pictures to it... Like Greg glued to the screen and drooling with excitement of how totally awesome this blog is!?!?!?!
.. On second thought, those quotes do sound REALLY good! =P
Oui, we wouldn't want that to happen.. :P
Heeey, where's Ryan? He's missing out on our record breaking postiness here!! O_O
(Btw, I changed my avatar, but now it looks like I'm two different people. >_< I'll be sure and not change it again, or at least not too often so I don't confuse people :o )
